Chris Hardgrave has successfully been buying and selling real estate in and around Capitol Hill for the last decade, here is Chris' first hand take on why you would love to live here:
Besides the history, architecture, food and people, Capitol Hill is an amazing place to live, work and play! I have spent the better part of the last decade living on "The Hill" and loved every minute of it. My wife and I came here after departing the Air Force to join the DC Air National Guard as an alert F-16 pilot. We bought a home, I got into real estate and we had a daughter who is now five. I couldn't think of a better place to raise a family.
Capitol Hill is the largest of DC's neighborhoods with nearly 40,000 residents. It generally extends from the Capitol building eastward toward the Anacostia River. Within this area are smaller neighborhoods like Barrack's Row, Eastern Market, Lincoln Park, Stanton Park and H Street Cooridor to name a few. You will find an amazing and diverse mix of people from young millennials, empty nesters, Hill staffers and families with young children.
The area has also seen a resurgence in great food and restaurants in the past decade. Rose's Luxury on Barracks Row was named the top restaurant in the country just last year! Maketto's on H Street is just as incredible with Cambodian street food.
The walkability is also incredible! My wife and I can just walk around the corner to a great restaurant or bar in our neighborhood. You can't do that in the suburbs! We've made great friends and met wonderful people who live, work and play on Capitol Hill.
Try it yourself! I know you will love it!
