I am writing to express my appreciation for the DC Trail Ranger program, and asking you to support its expansion in Mayor Bowser’s FY 2020 Budget proposal. This much loved program should serve all of the District’s trails, all year long.  

The Trail Ranger program is an incredibly effective, user-focused maintenance and community engagement program. Created in 2013 by DC Council, the team has reported more than 900 issues to the correct maintenance authority and spent thousands of hours helping trail users, engaging nearby communities, and removing trash, glass and debris. It is a people-focused program, but it is also a smart way to protect infrastructure investments through timely maintenance. 

In summary, I hope you will support expanding the Trail Ranger program in this year’s budget process. The program serves residents and guests alike as they navigate our region’s trails.
